It's amazing to think that just over 17,000 years ago, that Mammoths were roaming our region. Not millions of years ago, simply thousands.

The dig was discovered when a man wanted some fill dirt and found giant bones in it. So for the past decade, when it's not freezing, the workers slowly -- and I do mean slowly -- remove dirt methodically looking to unearth every piece of this mammoth there is.

It's an all-volunteer effort, and the public is welcome to tour! Hey teachers, this would be a perfect field trip!

Get the details HERE and watch the video below to see the dig in action. Book your tour starting May 20 for July 20, Aug. 17, Sept. 21 or Oct. 12 at www.coyotecanyonmammothsite.org.
