Yakima Shopko To Close – Is Kennewick Shopko Next?

Sad news out of Yakima as Shopko has announced they are closing the Yakima store on 5801 Summitview. I went to that particular Shopko for over 15 years for my optical needs and I'm currently a customer at the Shopko store in Kennewick.

A press release explains the shutdown has started with a liquidation sale and the doors will close for good on April 7th.

Shopko is set to close 39 stores in 19 states over the next few months. it looks like the Shopko store in Union Gap and Shopko in Prosser ( a Hometown store) are still safe as no word has come down concerning their closure.

Kennewick seems to have escaped the shutdown for now but how much longer can the embattled retailer stay in business with it's economical woes...I guess only time will tell.
