According to Benton City resident and KORD personality Ed Dailey, the Yakima River over-flowed its banks about 2 a.m. and has slowly receded since.

The water came up above his porch and into his lawn during the night. According to the National Weather Service a spike in flow occurred sometime Thursday evening and lingered until the early morning hours. Flooding for the Benton-Kiona area is considered 11 feet and it has exceeded that from mid-day Thursday until mid-day Friday. Water levels are expected to steadily go down throughout the weekend as storm surge makes its way to the Columbia River.
