The Walla Walla School District announced Monday pre-school and kindergarten students will begin AM/PM hybrid learning January 19, and the rest of elementary students will go back January 26th.

The District also stated:

"Additionally, students in self-contained Special Education programs, SEATech students, students in specific Career and Technical Education programs, and a select number of struggling middle and high school students will also be permitted onsite access as soon as the 19th."

Walla Walla is the only SE WA area District utilizing the AM/PM Model. Under this system, students will either go M -through-F in the morning, or in the afternoon. According to the WWSD website, this model allows for daily interaction with children and their peers, avoids lunchroom congestion and other areas that might increase exposure, and allows more time for students to obtain additional guidance from teachers (questions).

Kennewick, Pasco, and other Districts have been trying to utilize a A or B model, where students go either Monday-Tuesday all day, or Thursday-Friday all day with Wednesday off for all students.

However, for middle and high school students, return will have to wait until "case counts reach state-recommended levels" according to the District.
