In the Tri-Cities, both Green2Go and Nirvana have no plans of this writing to participate in the state of Washington's Joints for Jabs program.

Green2Go in Finley was barely aware of the pilot program while Nirvana in Richland knew of the burgeoning project, but when asked for specifics, there was only speculation that management would wait until the proper protocols were laid out from the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Control Board.

Well, here you go:

"In an effort to support COVID-19 vaccinations, the Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) today announced that it would provide a temporary allowance to state licensed cannabis retailers to provide one joint to adult consumers who receive a vaccination at an in-store vaccination clinic."

According to the LCB, if a person 21-or-older gets a vaccine administered at a sanctioned official 'pop-up' site or clinic at a pot store, they can receive one pre-rolled marijuana cigarette for free.

Participating cannabis retailers may only provide a pre-roll joint, and no other product may be provided as part of this allowance. More from the LCB:

  • "Any cannabis joint provided to a customer must be associated with an active vaccine clinic event at the retail location.
  • Only one complimentary joint may be provided to a customer who receives a first or second COVID-19 vaccine dose at the event.
  • Receipt of the complimentary joint must occur during the same visit as receiving the vaccination, and may not be delayed, postponed, or otherwise acquired at a later date or time."

The pot must come from a state-licensed official processor and seller, and the person has to be at least 21 years of age. This program is on now until July 12th.
