A Warden man is in custody in the Grant County jail, say authorities, after leading cops on a 54-mile chase that lasted nearly 50 minutes Saturday night.

The pursuit originally began in Pasco, with Pasco Police attempting to pull over a driver. The chase continued North out of Pasco, where Connell Police joined the pursuit.

The suspect continued without stopping, into Adams and finally Grant County. At times, said the Adams County Sheriff's Department, speeds reached upwards of 100 MPH.

Finally as the chase approached Grant County, Warden Police were able to lay down spike strips that disabled the vehicle. Despite that, it continued before officers were finally able to surround the suspect.

Adams County K-9 Garrett was brought in to assist, and convince the suspect to give up. 37-year-old Sergio Diaz Jr of Warden was apprehended and taken into custody .

It's presumed Diaz Jr. did not pull over for the Pasco officers, because his laundry list of charges include: (From the Adams County Sheriff's Office)

"..multiple warrants out of Franklin County along for Felony Eluding. He  also had arrest warrants out of Grant County."

Now he will be facing additional charges for felony eluding and possibly more out of Adams County. No one was injured and no property damaged during the massive pursuit.
