New cases of whopping cough have popped up in Walla Walla. While doctors think the first two cases are from the same family they are still testing others who have come in sick and waiting on lab results. In 2015 Walla Walla  had 56 cases of whopping cough.

Whooping cough (pertussis) is a highly contagious respiratory tract infection. In many people, it's marked by a severe hacking cough followed by a high-pitched intake of breath that sounds like "whoop." -Mayo Clinic

So far no cases have spread to the Tri-CIties, but flu cases have been on the rise. Make sure your washing your hands and covering your mouth when sick (or not) to prevent spread of disease as much as possible. With warmer temps on the horizon, let's hope these cases stay low.
