Several Earthquakes Rocked & Rolled Near Mt. Saint Helens!

If you lived in the Northwest in 1980, you may remember how scary the Mt. Saint Helens eruption was. Smoke and ash were carried literally around the world. It was a devastating and amazing thing to witness. So, when earthquakes of any magnitude happen in the area, we tend to get a little jumpy around these parts. Early Wednesday morning, Jan 3, 2018, several small earthquakes shook Morton, WA which is near Mt. Staint Helens. The largest quake registered at 3.9 on the Richter Scale. There are little shakes around the area from time to time, but not usual as high as 3.9.

Luckily, no one was hurt and no major damage was reported. Scientists don't think that the magma under Mt. Saint Helens cause the quakes, but more quakes are possible for 48 hours after the first quake hit. It doesn't like like another eruption is even close to happening, but let's hope they keep an eye on the situation just in case!
