Semi Drives off Benton City Exit When Driver Falls Asleep

A semi driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel and drove his truck off I-82 near the Benton City exit.

The driver, 51 year old James E. Dugger, was cited for second-degree negligent driving. Both Dugger and his 33 year old passenger Troy Morene were taken to Kadlec Regional Hospital for injuries.

Dugger allegedly fell asleep letting his semi cross the median, over an embankment, and then it finally came to rest down below I-82 on Weber Canyon Road.

The area was closed for hours while police investigated.
