Pier One has been a stable for 25 years in the Tri-Cities but as soon as it can reopen, it sadly will be liquidating its assets and shutting down...for good.

The news was announced in the Dallas Daily News as that is where the main headquarters of Pier One is located.

The struggling retailer is asking courts to allow them to liquidate their assets once they are allowed to reopen.

It's another sad ending for a company that's been around for 58 years.

The company was already in bankruptcy from a filing three months ago and now the word is getting out that they are going to close permanently.

The company is citing not just the coronavirus as a cause of the closure but also the changing shopping habits of consumers and shoppers.

Our local Kennewick Pier One store is now on the chopping block on Columbia Center Blvd but the closures started last year when Pier One closed down 500 stores. There is roughly 500 left but once the permission is giving from the bankruptcy courts, Pier One will liquidate its finals stores and holdings.
