Temps are scorching hot this week with a heat advisory in effect and if you live in the Horn Rapids area, don't be surprised when you turn on your irrigation and discover it dry. The City of Richland is planning for their irrigation to be offline on Monday and Tuesday.

Luckily, it's a planned outage but a leak has the city turning off the system for a few days. The system will shut down Monday morning at 7 AM while repairs are made to a leak in the system.

The City of Richland released a statement concerning the planned outage:

There is a planned outage of the City of Richland’s Horn Rapids Irrigation System scheduled for Monday, June 21, and Tuesday, June 22, 2021. The system will shut down at about 7:00 a.m. Monday morning. The outage is necessary to repair a recently discovered leak in the primary pipeline that is the backbone of this system. This issue is new and unrelated to the pumping system outages that occurred earlier in the season.

It is expected that the irrigation water will be available again by Tuesday evening. The City will issue a notification when the system has been restarted.

If you need water, the City is advising citizens to use their home water supply for watering their lawn in the 100-degree weather.

If you need more information about the water outage, call 942-7670 or visit www.ci.richland.wa.us with any additional questions.

With the heat advisory in effect, don't forget to keep you and your pets hydrated.
