Seattle has become the new Silicon Valley, and Portland wants in on the action. In fact, the No. 1 destination for professionals who left California in 2016 was to the Portland area. To keep that trend going, Portland's mayor is courting tech businesses... by inviting them to test driverless vehicles on his streets!

At least one driverless semi truck was already tested on Portland streets and the Mayor Wheeler wants to see many, many more before the end of the year.

Oregon's state government isn't sure it likes the idea, but Portland officials successfully killed a bill that would have interfered with their plans.

What do you think? Would you be afraid, or feel more safe knowing the vehicles around you were driver remotely or by computers. Anything's better than the person texting next to you, right?
