A West Pasco car theft sadly reinforces that apparently we live in different times now.

It used to be we could (most of us) occasionally forget to lock our vehicle doors, or leave the garage door open.  Apparently not anymore.

Pasco Police are on the lookout and are encouraging citizens to keep an eye out for this Subaru Legacy. It was reported stolen around 2:30AM Tuesday morning from a home in the 4500 block of Crescent Road (just west of Chapel Hill Boulevard).

Police say the owner inadvertently forgot to lock it, left the garage door open and there was a spare key inside the vehicle. That made for an easy theft.

These are pictures of the actual vehicle, WA Plates ARW5899, it's a blue 2015 Legacy.

You might think a vehicle in a garage, even if the door is open, might be a bit of a deterrent. Some thieves will try to boost a vehicle parked on the street, but many will not venture into a garage for fear of security, or a dog etc.

But this case sadly reinforces that even if you live in a nicer neighborhood, and have a garage, you simply cannot let your guard down. Lock vehicles, never store anything of value inside (even if hidden in the trunk) and close the garage door and lock it.

Anyone who may see this vehicle or knows more about this theft, you're urged to call 9-1-1 immediately or (509)-628-0333. All leads can be confidential.
