‘Love Not Hate’ Vigil in Richland Attracts Hundreds

While other cities were host to protests following the presidential election results, the Tri-Cities took a different approach. Organized by Create the Community and executed in one day, the "Love Not Hate" vigil was an incredible site to see in Richland's John Dam Plaza. More than 200 people gathered to show solidarity and support for those who have been most in shock of the nation's presidential election results. Unlike protests in other cities, ALL were welcome including Trump supporters.

Speakers told stories, read poems, and shared their experiences and emotions in the wake of the election results. The overall message was that the community must all come together to take care of one another, regardless of sex, race, sexual orientation, religion or beliefs. Scott Butner took some amazing photos, so check them out below. All the speakers were incredible, but here's me (Raleigh) reading the poem 'Still I Rise' by Maya Angelou. It meant so much to me to be asked to be involved!
