Local 6 Year Old Killed After Running Out Into Road

Police are investigating a man who hit and killed a 6-year-old boy Monday.

No evidence of drugs, alcohol or distracted driving was present. Mabton police believe the little boy just ran into the street in front of the truck driven by a 23-year-old man.

No charges have been filed.

Mabton is a small town near Grandview and Prosser and it's possible the child became too accustomed to playing in the street. The sad incident is a reminder to parents to teach children the dangers of leaving their front yard and the extreme caution that should be exercised around streets.
