So many times, the most benign act by a driver leads to the apprehension of a suspect.

Late Wednesday evening, the Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) in Kennewick was on patrol and stopped a car for failure to use their turn signal at an intersection. Turns out the woman driving didn't have her seat belt on either. Was it an attempt to 'alert' police?

The male passenger, identified as  Humberto Hernandez, was the subject of a protection order and the victim was the driver. Hernandez was also found to be wanted on a misdemeanor warrant for domestic violence assault, and a big one, failure to register as a sex offender as well and escape from community custody.

That last one basically means a convicted person fails to 'keep in touch' with law enforcement as required by the terms of their release.

Hernandez is now behind bars in the Benton County Jail.
