Lace-up those skates and let's hit the floor! Rollarena is opening back up this weekend and I couldn't be happier.

I spent a lot of weekends in my own hometown at the roller skating rink. As a kid and a teenager, it was a way to get out of the house for an afternoon and hang out with my buddies.

I liked it so much that in my youth, I ended up working at a skating rink for quite a few years.

COVID-19 shut down our local rink but now with the move into Phase 2, Rollarena in Richland is opening its doors again.

Rollarena still will have some guidelines to follow but it's exciting news knowing that the kids can get out of the house and burn off some energy.

Rollarena's hours are Saturday, Oct. 17, 1-4 p.m. & 7:30-10 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 18, 1-4 p.m.

They will have limited capacity but they are going to be open for 3 sessions this weekend.

Here are a few of the new rules in the Rollarena:

* Please do not attend if having signs of illness, or have been in recent contact with someone who has been ill

* No entry without a mask.  Masks must be worn unless skating on the wood floor or consuming refreshments

* Stay 6 feet from other groups when in the lobby. Do not stop to talk to others when on the skating floor.

* Sanitize hands regularly

You can check out more details on the reopening by following Rollarena on their Facebook page here or you can call 509.366.6008 for more information or check them out on their website with pricing information here.
