Hunters: Don’t Bring Your Idaho Deer into Washington State

CWD, or chronic wasting disease, has been confirmed in Idaho and Manitoba deer that have been recently harvested. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife would like to ask you not to bring those deer into Washington State to prevent spreading the disease.

CWD is a fatal illness that affects deer, elk, moose, and caribou. According to the WDFW, you are allowed to bring meat that has been deboned and is imported as boned-out meat into the state of Washington. Also skulls and antlers, antlers attached to the skull plate, or upper canine teeth from which all soft tissue has been removed. You can also bring hides or capes without the heads attached and finished taxidermy mounts.
