In 2008, an anchor was found in the Puget Sound and was thought to be off a ship from 1792!

HMS Chatham was a British Navy ship that was docked north of Seattle in 1792, so the 10-foot anchor was thought to be from that ship, which accompanied George Vancouver's exploration of the Pacific Coast. Can you imagine how cool that'd be? Like finding Meriwether Lewis's canteen or Sir Francis Drake's sword!

The anchor was sent to Texas A&M for restoration, and that project was recently completed. Now that they have a better understanding of the anchor, they've now determined it's likely from a ship closer to 1820. DARN! But that's still crazy old!

More research will be conducted so the history can be confirmed. More information can be found from the Union Bulletin.
