Should the powers that be build an interchange at the intersection of US395/Ridgeline Drive? It would include an undercrossing structure for Ridgeline Drive to cross UNDER US395.

Southridge has been exploding and a second 395 intersection is needed between 82 and Hildebrand Rd. Right now no left turns are allowed from Ridgeline onto 395 and this restricts the ability of residents and tenants of nearby properties to get in and out.

A traffic signal at 395 and Ridgeline won't work because of the amount of traffic and 395's steep grade.

In partnership with the Washington State Department of Transportation, Kennewick has chosen an underpass interchange for this area.  The project includes:

  • Ridgeline Drive crossing underneath US395
  • On and off ramps at this location
  • An additional northbound US395 lane from Ridgeline to north of Hildebrand
  • New turning lanes at all four legs of the US395/Hildebrand intersection

Money will come from Connecting Washington funds, National Highway Freight Program funds, and a Public Works Trust Fund loan from WA State.

The design should be completed later this year, and a right-of-way by the end of the year. The project is scheduled to be built from the spring of 2020 through the fall of 2021.

If sufficient funds exist following the interchange project, the city will begin additional improvements in 2022 (shown in orange).

There is an open house tonight (June 12) at the Southridge High School library from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for community input on the project and for representatives to answer questions from the public.
