Grant County Deputy Shot by Robbery Suspect

A Grant County Deputy was shot Wednesday morning by a robbery suspect.

Deputies were chasing Jesus Torres in downtown Ephrata when the suspect fired a gun.  A bullet went through a patrol car and struck the deputy's foot.

The chase ended outside of Soap Lake, near SR 17 and Road 19, where Torres was taken into custody.

Torres was wanted for two Moses Lake armed robberies.

Police are continuing to investigate.  Deputy Jeff Wentworth is recovering.
