Last year, Walla Walla had 6 cases of gonorrhea over a span of 3 months. This year, there's been 27 cases over the same amount of time. While we're a ways from DEFCON 5, it has been declared an outbreak in the county.

The good news for everyone outside of Walla Walla county is that it's the only county in our state with a gonorrhea outbreak. The bad news is that we went from 5 different ways of treating the disease 13 years ago. Now there's only one.

I'm not gonna get preachy about safe sex and all that, but if you're sexually active outside a monogamous relationship, consider getting checked. It's nice to have the relief of knowing you don't have a disease, or that it could get treated promptly and discreetly.
