The United States has had its first death from coronavirus. It hits too close to home, as news reports indicate that the person was a Washington resident.

Governor Inslee confirmed in a statement today that it was Covid-19, saying it was a "sad day in our state" and that "we will continue to work toward a day where no one dies from this virus."

The patient was a King County man who lived near Seattle. He was in the care of EvergreenHealth in Kirkland when he passed away. Reports say another patient in their care has tested positive for the disease, but this has yet to be officially confirmed. The hospital was on lockdown two days ago for an active shooter report. No threat was found.

Washington was also the first state to have a confirmed case of coronavirus when a resident returned from a trip to China.
