Thank goodness the many fires around the Tri-Cities have been put out! We're so glad we have such amazing teams to keep our wildlife areas and cities safe. But the effects of fires can often be felt for a while after they're out. Bad air quality is an issue in the Columbia Basin because of its shape. Pollutants can get stuck in the air and not blown out for a while potentially causing problems.

Symptoms can include feeling tired/exhausted, watery or itchy eyes, coughing, wheezing, or trigger asthma attacks. Children and the elderly are the most at risk, so it's good for parents to monitor their kids to make sure a little cough doesn't get bigger. In adults, we just have to power through it, unless asthma or other illnesses are further irritated. Right now, air quality is okay, but to keep an eye on it, check out these sites!
