The Collector communicates with members with past due accounts and reports activities to the file or system used to track account activity. The Collector must project a professional image and maintain confidentiality with all customer and sensitive data.
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to: Ensure timely contact of members with delinquent loans to inquire about re-payment intent. Initiate calls to members on the generation of the 30 day notice. Maximize the collection and/or recovery of Credit Union assets from delinquent and charged off accounts. Maintain accurate and complete records of all collection and recovery activity. Adhere to provisions as set for in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and insure collection activity is always within Credit Union policy and all relevant regulations. Contact delinquent accounts by phone, e-mail and mail; take appropriate action to bring current. Analyze the financial situations of delinquent borrowers; make recommendations to repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan to current are unsuccessful.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma
One (1) to three (3) years of similar or related experience
Ability to organize, prioritize and respond simultaneously to multiple tasks and requests
Ability to professionally interact with members and coworkers at all times
Proficient with standard office equipment, Excel, MS Word and Outlook
Physical Requirements: Per the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, this is considered a sedentary position.
