Benton County Sheriffs Deputies, Richland PD and West Richland police combined to stop a wild BMW driver attempting to elude them late Monday night.

Around 9pm Richland and Benton County came to the assist of West Richland who began a pursuit that started in town then headed toward Benton City.

The suspect, identified as North Dakota resident Adrian Villaneda, age 50, refused to stop and was seen by multiple officers tossing bags of what turned out to be drugs out his window.

A sheriff's unit set up a spike strip ahead of the fleeing suspect on Highway 224 and when Villaneda hit it, he slowed and stopped in the DOT park-and-ride lot behind the Desert Food Mart.

The drugs were apparently recovered from the roadside, and he is facing a variety of charges, likely to include felony eluding.
