The Toronto Raptors have never won a playoff series since it became an NBA franchise in 1995, so it understandably won't have a lot of fans in the States when there's a lot of more interesting teams to root for. But the other 29 teams have a bit of a marketing disadvantage since they don't have a Drake.

The 'Nothing Was the Same' creator was announced as the Toronto Raptors' global ambassador Monday (Sept. 30) at a press conference. Drizzy will be heavily involved with the franchise's rebranding effort for its 20th anniversary in the 2014-15 season.

Although his only work experience is being on 'Degrassi,' owning the title of one of the hottest rappers out and starting his own label, Drake should be very effective in his new position since he is the most recognizable name in Toronto. Plus, he's about to embark on the Would You Like a Tour? concert series.

There's also been reports that Drake is releasing a new clothing line through the Raptors. The partnership could be beneficial to the OVO leader as well. NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver said in July that NBA owners were interested in allowing 2.5 inch by 2.5 inch advertisements on the players' jerseys. In other words, expect to see a lot more OVO Owls if you're one of the few Raptors fans.
