Columbia Industries has acquired Tri-Cites' Round Table Pizza franchises to help fund its mission-based organization.

It's a surprising move, but not really unexpected, as Columbia Industries already operates CI Shred and CI Information Management Services. Columbia Industries is known for employing people with employment barriers and for funding its non-profit programs.

According to CEO Brian McDermott, this purchase will pair nicely with another CI program called Opportunity Kitchen (a food service vocational program).

There are four Round Table Pizza locations -- two in Richland, one in Kennewick and one in Pasco.

No changes are expected at the Round Table Pizza restaurants. Customers can expect the same great pizza and customer service.
