Another phone scam appears to have hit the area.

DO NOT give your SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, or any other PERSONAL INFORMATION to anyone over the phone.

Police are warning that the call is a recording claiming to be the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

The recording says the Sheriff's Office will pursue charges against the person called if they don't supply their social security number.

After the message, a person comes on, asking for the victim's social security number.

The Benton County Sheriff's Department warns that THIS IS A SCAM.  The Department would NEVER call people for their personal information.

Please hang up if you receive such a call.  and then, call the Police.
