A 87 year old man drowned in a river near Grants Pass after being thrown from his horse trying to cross and got swept away in the current. The man has been identified as Jack Sauer, and that he was found about 200 yards down river under some vegetation according to reports. They also said that a hunting partner had grabbed a piece of his clothing but could not hold on and he was swept down the river.

Saur lived around Kerby and was a farmer, rancher, and built a motocross track in the 1990's.
