Zintel Canyon is some people's favorite "getaway" inside Tri-Cities. With fewer ticks than Bateman Island and cooler temperatures than Badger Mountain, it's a popular trail. A few residents offered some advice lately and I thought I'd pass it on:

  • 1

The best place to start is at the trailhead on 7th Avenue near Vancouver.

  • 2

Watch out for homeless campers, they enjoy the park as well.

  • 3

Mountain lions have been spotted in the area in previous years so keep an eye open.

  • 4

Spray your dogs to prevent ticks. Look for funny bullseye rashes on yourself afterwards.

  • 5

    Wear bug repellent.

  • 6

Report graffiti you see. The city can't have it removed if it doesn't know about it.

  • 7

Bring a plastic sack to pick up your dog's poo.

  • 8

Be a good citizen and pick up litter you come across.

  • 9

If you and a significant other want some "intimate" time find somewhere else. It's a park, not "the woods".

  • 10

Don't go there to smoke weed. Recreational marijuana is only legal in the privacy of your own home.
